Pics From The Old Mutual Building

The latest Durban Flickr Meetup took place high above the streets on the roof of the Old Mutual building in West Street. Unfortunately our arrival in the sky coincided with the commencing of a thunderstorm. However as the raindrops became bigger and faster and the lightning struck ever nearer, our brave and fearless snappers were not to be moved. Risking life and limb (and Garys job) they stayed out there as nature vented it's anger across the Durban metropolis. After an half hour battling the elements, common sense and thoughts of self preservation finally won the day and our intrepid photographers finally headed for shelter in the basement of the building and continued to take pictures of that. Here are a few images of the evening.

Next Meetup - Durban City Centre - 21 February 2010

We will meet up at 10am at the Workshop shopping centre. Meet by the entrance facing the old railway station. We will be most probably concentrate on Smith & West Streets and some of the small alleys and arcades that run off these streets.

Welcome to the Durban Flickr Meetup blog

The Durban Flickr Meetup Group was founded in mid 2008 with the intention of being a place to organise photographic meetups in the Durban Area. It was though only 21 June 2009 before we got around to having our first gathering, an early morning shoot on Addington Beach. Since then we have had meetups at irregular intervals and at many different locations.

The idea of this blog is to give notice of coming events as well as reports back on previous trips.
